Malaria Risk in Nepal

Despite what locals may tell you, there is malaria in the southern belt of the country. However, it is widely believed there is no risk in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Using mosquito repellent is recommended, if only to avoid those annoying bites. If travelling outside of Kathmandu you might want to weight up the risks of taking anti-malaria medication.   For information as to where risks are higher please see malaria advice for travelers to Nepal.
