Chandragiri Cable Car Day Trip
Namaste, it’s been a long that I hadn’t post anything. Too busy with many stuffs here! My friend Saugat went to Manaslu on the 3rd of November and it is just I in Kathmandu these days. I had seen many posts on the online magazine regarding the Chandragiri Cable Car Ride and today I went there! It was amazing. I saw an Everest from the top! I swear I saw it.
On the way back I went to monkey temple as well. Weather was great and the view was fantastic. However, the road was extremely dusty. The total road distance from Thamel to Chandragiri Cable Car was roughly 14 kilometre. It nearly took forty minutes to reach there. Parking was well organized. There is a separate price for different nationals, see the detail below:
Chandragiri Cable Car Price
- Nepali: One way Nrs 415 and Round ride Nrs 700
- SAARC: One way Nrs 664 and Round ride Nrs 1120
- Others: One way USD 13 and Round ride USD 22
There is a discount policy as well:
- Children up to 3 feet free entry
- Children in between 3 and 4 feet 40% off
- Differently able person 50% off
- Student 25% off
- Locals 25% off
Note: You are not allowed to carry any foods and beverages inside the cable car.
Experience in Chandragiri Hills
The total ride time from base to the top was roughly twelve minutes.
There is a nice cafeteria in the top next to the temple of Lord Shiva. In my opinion it is reasonably priced. Nrs 70 for the popcorn and Nrs 230 for dumpling (momo) I mentioned this cause I read news in the online media reporting that Chandragiri Hills (P) Ltd. is ripping off the people. No offence though!
What I want to say is if anyone of you likes to carry your own food then just drive or hike!
There is a new outlet of himalayan java in the base terminal. You can pay by debit or credit card for the cable car ride. Also, you can use your card for the payment in Himalayan Java Coffee.
If you are looking for a good escape from the city, I highly recommend this for a day trip. You can also drive all the way to top or hike!
You can stay overnight in Vintuna Resort, which is located right outside the main entrance of cable car terminal. You can see Manaslu and Ganesh Himal range all the time along with Langtang and Rolwaling Himalayan Range.
I wish a nice weather and stunning view for everyone!
